Holland Colours featured in PETplanet: Circular PET innovation and collaboration

Written by Holland Colours | Oct 7, 2026, 7:13:49 AM

Holland Colours has been featured in PETplanet following the Exclusive PET Circularity Lunch hosted at PRSE 2026 in Amsterdam, highlighting how collaboration and innovation across the PET value chain are helping advance circular packaging solutions.

During the Exclusive PET Circularity Lunch, Holland Colours brought together customers, recyclers, OEMs, brand owners, and industry partners for an Exclusive PET Circularity Lunch focused on the future of PET recycling. The event created a platform for experts from across the value chain to share practical challenges, new technologies, and solutions aimed at improving recycled PET quality, processing efficiency, and packaging performance.

Collaboration across the PET value chain

The discussions reflected one central message: circular PET requires more than recycling alone. Progress depends on combining expertise in material processing, packaging performance, recycling technology, and product protection across the entire value chain.

Holland Colours wanted to take an in-depth look at the PET recycling markets, identify and discuss the challenges facing the industry today, and do so from every angle.

Manuel Piva from PET Solutions shared insights into drying and dosing technologies for recycled PET, addressing challenges such as material quality, degradation, and processing efficiency. Sinem Gkioulen from FrieslandCampina highlighted the company’s circular packaging strategy, with a focus on recyclability, material reduction, and stronger collection and recycling systems.

SIPA introduced its XFORM RENEW technology, which enables washed PET flakes to be converted directly into preforms, helping simplify the recycling process by bypassing the conventional pelletising stage.

Holland Colours contributed to the discussion with CircStab, a next-generation additive developed to help prevent PET degradation during recycling and preserve key optical and mechanical properties of rPET. By supporting material stability and quality through repeated processing, the solution helps recycled PET remain suitable for demanding applications.

Advancing circular PET solutions

Holland Colours also highlighted the growing connection between packaging functionality and recyclability. In applications that require strict product protection, such as dairy and other light-sensitive products, the additives and materials used to deliver performance can directly influence how the packaging behaves at end of life.

This intersection between protection and circularity is reflected in Holland Colours’ work on its light-blocking portfolio, including ReWhite and LightGuard 400.

Developed to address the challenge of protecting light-sensitive products while supporting PET recycling pathways, these solutions have provided practical insights into how packaging performance and recyclability increasingly need to be considered together rather than as separate objectives.

These learnings formed a valuable starting point for broader discussions on how packaging can continue to meet performance requirements while supporting circularity goals.

LightGuard 400 represents a balance between functionality and environmental responsibility.

The PET Circularity Lunch demonstrated how collaboration across the value chain can help address today’s PET recycling challenges. While the event may be over, the conversation continues

The practical lessons shared during the lunch reflect wider challenges facing the packaging industry. Holland Colours will continue this conversation during its upcoming global webinar, exploring how PET packaging can balance performance, regulatory requirements, recycling compatibility and circularity ambitions.
