What you'll be doing
Main Work
As a Product Development Specialist in Apeldoorn, you are continuously growing our collective expertise of coloring concentrates. You will work with a diverse range of applications: from solid to liquid. And from colors to additives. The diversity of products makes it challenging (and fun!) from a technical point of view.
The landscape of colorants is dynamic and evolving. To stay at the forefront of the industry, you will be supporting sustainability practices, enhancing recycling processes, and navigating complex legislation related to food contact materials. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing innovative coloring concentrates for coatings, sealants, and adhesives;
- Giving workshops or presentations on products to inform colleagues;
- Researching and testing to enhance color formulas and sustainability practices;
- Providing technical support to customers, addressing their inquiries, and resolving issues;
- Increasing your knowledge and becoming an expert in specialty products by following courses and taking part in conferences.
The Team
In Product Development at Holland Colours, collaboration is key. Our experienced team of 10 in The Netherlands is excited to welcome and guide a new member who is eager to learn everything about colors, additives, and extrusion technology. The learning curve is steep, accompanied by a strong sense of camaraderie. We gather for lunch breaks at noon or go out for a walk together. You will work closely with:
- Joost, with whom you will work on projects to improve sustainability aspects and troubleshooting analysis to help our customers.
- Ezgi, with whom you will develop new products for food contact applications.
- Miranda, who you may always challenge with good ideas and critical questions.
In addition to colleagues in our Apeldoorn lab facilities, you will regularly collaborate with your product development colleagues in the US and Indonesia. Internally, you will coordinate with product marketing, procurement, and operations to scale up and commercialize new products.
Your expertise will also greatly benefit our sales colleagues, who will rely on your technical support for both existing and new products, by either giving workshops or by joining them for a company visit.

Job criteria:
Are you ready to create the best experience of colorants and additives for customers? As Product Development Specialist at Holland Colours in Apeldoorn, this is what you’ll need to bring:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in (Polymer) Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material science, or similar;
- One or two years of experience in a lab setting;
- Basic understanding in one of the following areas: formulation experience in coatings, sealants and adhesives, or knowledge about polymer extrusion techniques;
- A keen interest in coloring concentrates;
- Fluent in English language.
