Mastering the chemistry of masterbatches and colorants comes naturally to you, and now after a period of successfully leading innovation projects you’re ready to show your leadership in this role: Leading a Product Development team and guiding its business stakeholders in shaping and executing the innovation project portfolio. Managing technical nuances, team dynamics, stakeholders in and outside the company, and understanding customer needs, you’ll play a pivotal role in steering our business forward. Yet, you're far from bored with participating in R&D projects to boost innovation: leading your own projects and technically contributing to other projects close to your knowledge areas. If you're eager to leverage your expertise in a managerial capacity and still find excitement in the diverse possibilities in colorants and additives, then you might be the Product Development Team Manager we need to lead our team to new heights.
 
Reporting to the Head of Global Technology based in Netherland. Managing a small team of knowledgeable colleagues who are looking forward to be led by a Team Manager who is a role model in leading projects and the local innovation process.

Main Work

As a Product Development Team Manager in Surabaya, you will blend your technical skills with leadership, shaping our products and the people who develop them. You will work with a diverse range of applications: from solid to liquid. And from colors to additives. To stay at the forefront of the industry, you will be supporting sustainability practices, enhancing recycling processes, and navigating complex legislation related to food contact materials. Your responsibilities will include:
 
  • Leading and inspiring the Product Development Team in Surabaya, fostering a culture of collaboration;
  • Leading the local innovation project portfolio: shaping it by defining the right projects together with the local business leaders, in order to make the company strategy happen.
  • Supporting and coaching the team on the delivery of innovation projects: Driving the projects from the fuzzy front of the funnel to a successful launch, in close cooperation with the involved stakeholders.
  • Understanding and responding to customer needs to generate new business opportunities;
  • Managing and execute large and complex innovation projects and contributing with technological expertise;
  • Collaborating with global colleagues to drive global product development initiatives and ensure an effective exchange of knowledge and opportunities globally.

You will regularly collaborate with product development colleagues in the US and Europe. As well you will coordinate with product marketing, procurement, and operations to scale up and commercialize new products.

Requirements
Are you ready to lead and innovate within the dynamic world of colorants and additives? As Product Development Team Manager at Holland Colours in Surabaya, this is what you’ll need to bring:
  • A master’s degree in (Polymer) Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material science, or similar;
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the chemical industry from which at least 3 years in managing a team and/or managing innovation projects.
  • A successful track record of project management and influencing business decisions related to innovation;
  • Understanding of at least one of these areas: formulation in coatings, sealants and adhesives, polymer applications or extrusion techniques;
  • A strong business acumen to see the bigger picture and business context of the industry;
  • Mature communication skills to coach peers and discuss complex issues with stakeholders;
  • Fluent in English and Indonesian language.
