About Plastec
Plastec was founded in 2006 by Giampaolo Gatti and four partners and has been part of the RETAL Group since 2016. The company specializes in PET preforms and containers for a wide range of industries, including dairy, wine, beverages, juice, and cosmetics.
With a strong foothold in the Italian dairy sector, Plastec is now aiming to expand further into new markets, especially detergents and cosmetics, while exploring alternative raw materials to PET to support sustainability goals. One of their biggest challenges? Keep the diary sector under control and strengthen their presence in the detergent and cosmetics sectors, including through the use of alternative raw materials to PET.
What did we co-design?
In their search for innovative solutions, Plastec turned to Holland Colours. What started as a request for a better masterbatch for dairy packaging quickly evolved into a close and creative partnership.
Together, the teams worked on the transition from liquid to solid white solutions for ESL milk, cream, and yogurt. This included customized use of Holcomer Classic and Holcomer Thermostretch. We made this come true by performing production tests on-site and co-developing technical solutions, both companies managed to optimize not only the product but the entire manufacturing process.
We are also using a slip agent additive (Holcoslip) to improve the flowability (lubrication) of the preforms in the blown and filled container production process.
