Q&A

Bram works in the Product Stewardship department at Holland Colours, where they focuses on compliance, documentation, and regulatory support. Their role connects multiple departments and ensures that products meet both internal standards and external regulations.

Who are you, and what is your role at HCA?

My name is Bram Wenno, and I work in the Product Stewardship department at Holland Colours. I’ve been here for about four and a half years.

I initially started working on food contact materials for a smaller project, but over time my role expanded, and I decided to stay. Since then, I’ve continued developing within the department and contributing to a variety of projects.

How did your journey at HCA begin?

I came to Holland Colours in a somewhat indirect way. It wasn’t a very straightforward path, but once I joined, things quickly fell into place.

What started as a temporary opportunity turned into a long-term position. I found my place quite naturally within the company, and that made the decision to stay an easy one.

What makes teamwork important in your department?

Communication is the key factor. When people are open, honest, and transparent about what they are doing, collaboration becomes much more effective.

In addition, mutual respect and supporting each other play a big role. These elements create a strong and reliable team environment.

How would you describe the atmosphere at HCA?

The atmosphere has always been informal and familiar—almost like a family environment.

At the same time, the company is becoming more professional over time. Finding the balance between those two aspects creates a unique culture that I really appreciate.

What is the value of your department?

Our department ensures that customers receive the correct compliance documentation and understand the regulatory aspects of our products.

We support customers by providing clear explanations, helping them navigate changing legislation, and making sure they are well informed. Especially in Europe, where regulations are constantly evolving, this support is very valuable.

What makes your department unique?

We are positioned at the intersection of multiple departments, including Sales, Procurement, Product Development, and Color Design.

We ensure that products are compliant before they reach the market and continue to support customers afterward. This central position makes our role quite unique within the organization.

How does your department contribute to sustainability?

We are actively involved in sustainability initiatives, including carbon footprint projects.

For example, we analyze raw materials to identify more sustainable alternatives and support the use of recycled plastics. We also help provide customers with carbon footprint data and ensure new materials align with sustainability strategies.

What does your department do on a daily basis?

A large part of our work involves preparing and supplying documentation for customers.

We work with internal systems to generate compliance documents and ensure everything is aligned with regulations. We also make sure that all necessary data is available for inspections by national and international authorities.

How would you describe HCA in three words?

Familiar, service-oriented, and innovative.

These words reflect both the company culture and the way we support customers while continuing to develop new solutions.

What would you say to someone considering working at HCA?

Working at HCA has always felt right to me. It’s a place where you can be yourself, share ideas, and grow within the organization.

The informal communication style and openness make it easy to contribute, and over time, you naturally find your place within the company.

Bram's advice:

“Be open, communicate clearly, and don’t hesitate to share your ideas, because that’s how you find your place and grow.”
