Q&A

Dorian works in the Product Development department at Holland Colours, where she focuses on managing projects, developing new products, and collaborating across multiple departments. Her role combines technical knowledge, coordination, and close interaction with both colleagues and customers.

Who are you, and what is your role at HCA?

My name is Dorian Keursten, and I work as a Project Manager in the Product Development department at Holland Colours. I’ve been here for about three and a half years.

In my role, I coordinate projects, work closely with different departments, and support the development of new products that bring value to our customers.

How did your journey at HCA begin?

I was approached by a recruiter who shared a job description with me. I found the role very interesting, and at that time, I was also exploring new opportunities.

After applying and going through the process, I joined Holland Colours. It felt like a natural step, and I quickly became part of the organization.

What makes teamwork important in your department?

Within our team, we focus on open communication, trust, and respect for each other. These are essential values when working together on complex projects.

When everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas and asking questions, collaboration becomes much more effective and leads to better results.

What does your department bring to customers?

In Product Development, we work on creating new products—sometimes based on specific customer requests and sometimes as new innovations for the market.

These products help customers improve their processes and create added value. We also stay involved after the product is launched, supporting customers with testing, discussing results, and sometimes visiting them directly.

What makes your department unique?

We focus on long-term product development that benefits both the company and our customers.

At the same time, we have strong technical knowledge and access to advanced lab facilities for testing and analysis. We also collaborate closely with many departments, including Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Operations, and Product Stewardship.

This makes our role very connected within the organization—we are involved in many areas and work with many people.

How does your department contribute to sustainability?

We are involved in various sustainability projects. For example, we work on more sustainable raw materials and support initiatives related to PET recycling.

In addition, some of the products we develop help customers improve efficiency, which can reduce energy consumption. In that way, we contribute to sustainability not only internally, but also at the customer level.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

My workday is very diverse. Some days I’m working in the lab, doing testing or analysis, and other days I’m focused on reports, planning, or project coordination.

There are also many meetings with colleagues from different departments. In my role as a Project Manager, I’m involved in coordinating people and processes, which means no two days are the same.

That variety is something I really enjoy—it keeps the work interesting and dynamic.

What makes the work environment at HCA unique?

There is a lot of knowledge within the company, and people are very open to sharing it.

You can easily approach colleagues, ask questions, and get support. In addition, there is an informal and friendly atmosphere, where people connect not only professionally but also personally.

How would you describe HCA in three words?

Open communication, strong collaboration, and a high level of knowledge.

These elements really define the culture and the way people work together.

What would you say to someone considering working at HCA?

There is a lot of knowledge within the company, so don’t hesitate to ask questions.

People are open, supportive, and willing to help. Everyone is working together to move forward and continuously improve, which creates a strong and positive environment.

Dorian's advice:

“Stay open, ask questions, and work together, because that’s how you grow and create real impact.”
